Scoot, Singapore Airlines’ budget carrier, has launched its inaugural direct flight from Singapore to Vienna, Austria, marking a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity between Southeast Asia and Central Europe. This new service is currently the only non-stop option linking the two cities, using the modern Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.

The inaugural flight, TR710, received a traditional water cannon salute upon its arrival at Vienna International Airport. The ceremony was attended by representatives from Scoot, Austria Tourism, Vienna Airport, and other partners in the travel industry.

Celebratory activities included the distribution of Vienna-themed souvenirs, such as artisanal chocolates and fan memorabilia, to passengers onboard. The event was further enriched by a live performance from the T’ang Quartet, a Singapore-based ensemble, which provided a touch of cultural elegance with classical music.

Ng Chee Keong, Chief Operating Officer of Scoot, highlighted the route’s strategic importance, stating that Vienna serves as an exciting entry point for travelers from the Asia-Pacific region eager to explore Europe’s cultural heritage. He also noted that the service increases travel options for European residents wishing to experience Singapore and other Southeast Asian destinations.

Vienna Airport’s Joint CEO, Julian Jäger, expressed optimism about the new route, which he believes will enhance air links between Asia and Austria, fostering greater accessibility and cultural interactions. He looks forward to a successful collaboration with Scoot that will benefit both the Austrian and Asia-Pacific tourism sectors.

With the addition of Vienna, Scoot now services a total of 73 destinations across 18 countries and territories. The airline is committed to expanding its long-haul travel offerings, providing affordable and comfortable travel experiences to meet diverse customer needs.

This development presents a hopeful opportunity for increased tourism and cultural exchange between Asia and Europe, enriching the travel experiences for passengers from both regions.
