The Ministry of Education has confirmed that classes will restart in schools across the Western Division on March 5, 2026, with some exceptions. Certain institutions, such as Nokonoko District School, Andrews Primary School, Nawaka District School, Nadi Muslim College, and Lovu Sangam School, will remain closed as they are currently serving as evacuation centers.

In contrast, schools in the Northern, Eastern, and Central Divisions will operate as scheduled, with favorable weather conditions reported in these areas. The Ministry of Education, led by Minister Aseri Radrodro, alongside the National Disaster Risk Management Office and other authorities, has advised parents, guardians, and stakeholders about which schools will remain closed.

Despite the resumption of classes in most areas, the Ministry emphasizes the need for ongoing vigilance as the region remains in hurricane season. Weather patterns can change unexpectedly, potentially resulting in rain or localized flooding, which could complicate travel for families.

Authorities urge parents to keep children away from flooded roads, creeks, or rivers and to limit unnecessary travel during this period. Staying informed through official weather advisories is crucial for families.

Furthermore, school leaders are reminded to stay in communication with Management Committees, District Education Offices, and Divisional Education Offices to receive timely weather updates. The Ministry is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and families and is prepared to share additional information as the situation develops.

This proactive approach by the Ministry not only prioritizes safety during the hurricane season but also aims to ensure that educational activities can proceed whenever conditions permit. By prioritizing safety, stakeholders can work together to navigate challenges while keeping education a central focus.
