Scarlett Johansson Reacts to Colin Jost’s Olympics Reporting Gig

Scarlett Johansson shared her thoughts on husband Colin Jost’s upcoming role reporting on the Olympics in Tahiti.

“How did he get this gig?” the “Fly Me to the Moon” actor, 39, joked during an appearance on TODAY on July 8.

Jost, 42, will cover the surfing competition at the Paris Olympics for NBC, reporting from Teahupo’o, Tahiti, in French Polynesia, starting July 27.

The “Saturday Night Live” star, who is an avid surfer, was thrilled about the assignment, Johansson explained.

“When they announced the Paris Olympics, he immediately found out that the surf competition would be in Tahiti, which is so cool. He loves to surf. We have a place in Montauk, and he’s always out there surfing,” she said.

“And somehow the dream became a reality, and now he’s going to be in Tahiti for two weeks,” she added, mimicking wiping away a tear with a playful smile.

She also teased her husband’s reaction to his upcoming assignment.

“He’s saying, ‘Poor me, I’m going to be all over the place,’ and I’m like, ‘Really?’” she said. “If you can have a pina colada while working, that’s not really work.”

The surfing competition will span four days between July 27 and August 5, with the exact days dependent on weather conditions.

This marks the second time surfing is included in the Summer Games, following its debut at the Tokyo Games in 2021.

In Tahiti, Jost will interview athletes and possibly catch some waves himself, as mentioned in an NBC Sports press release.

“I’m honored to watch the world’s best surfers compete on one of the heaviest waves imaginable and to help showcase the rich history of surfing in Tahiti,” Jost said in the release. “And my Writers Guild Health Insurance is excited to see what the coral reef does to my back.”
