Scarlett Johansson is reportedly in talks to join the cast of “The Batman Part II,” where she would star alongside Robert Pattinson in his role as the iconic Caped Crusader. Directed by Matt Reeves, this highly anticipated sequel is set to commence filming in the spring, aiming for a theatrical release in October 2027 from Warner Bros.
The first installment of “The Batman,” which premiered in March 2022, achieved significant box office success, grossing $772 million worldwide. Following the conclusion of the script in June, which Reeves co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, fans are eager to see the continuation of this gritty take on the beloved superhero.
While specifics regarding Johansson’s potential character have yet to be disclosed, her involvement marks a notable transition from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Having made her mark as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, she is now exploring opportunities within the DC universe, further expanding her impressive career in major franchise films. Her recent success with “Jurassic World Rebirth,” which garnered over $800 million, along with her upcoming role in the reboot of “The Exorcist,” showcases her versatility and star power.
Reeves has expressed enthusiasm about the new project, stating, “It’s been a long journey, but I am so incredibly excited. I’m really proud of the script me and Mattson did.” Notably, he shared the lengths to which the team went to keep the new story under wraps, including using a secure, locked pouch for the script.
Beyond franchise work, Johansson has also ventured into directing, making her debut with the drama “Eleanor the Great,” which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was released by Sony Pictures Classics.
