Suva has launched an innovative digital parking solution designed to modernize urban parking and improve city services. The application, named Bula Parki, allows users to pay for parking without cash and add parking credits conveniently using mobile wallets.

Tevita Boseiwaqa, Chair of the Suva City Council, emphasized the benefits of the app, which includes notifications to users before their parking time expires, thereby helping to avoid unintended fines. He underscored the importance of moving away from outdated parking meters, many of which are dysfunctional due to a lack of spare parts.

Boseiwaqa also noted that the introduction of Bula Parki is in line with Suva’s vision of becoming a smart city by leveraging digital technologies to enhance service delivery. Dineshwar Lal, Managing Director of D2UNET, expressed optimism that this app will effectively tackle parking challenges faced across Suva.

The City Council deems this launch a significant achievement for residents, commuters, and stakeholders. Boseiwaqa highlighted that the initiative sets a benchmark for urban services, not only in Fiji but throughout the Pacific region. This shift towards embracing digital infrastructure reflects a promising advancement in improving the overall quality of life for the city’s residents.
