The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has made significant headway in restoring water supply to Savusavu after recent interruptions. As of midday yesterday, the Savusavu Water Treatment Plant’s production capacity has increased to around 80 percent of its usual output. This improvement has been attributed to the effective clearance of intake screens and a stabilization in raw water inflows.

Efforts to replenish local reservoirs are also in full swing. By 5 PM yesterday, the Tavutikau Reservoir had been completely filled, allowing for the activation of booster pumps to refill the Navaqiqi Reservoir. This progress means that many lower-lying areas, including Savusavu Town, are starting to receive water supply again, while residents in higher elevations can anticipate restoration as reservoir levels continue to rise.

WAF remains hopeful about further enhancements to the water supply later this evening, provided stable conditions continue. Nonetheless, some isolated areas may still experience low pressure or intermittent supply during this transitional period.

To support customers affected by these disruptions, WAF has deployed seven water carting trucks throughout Savusavu and activated additional operational teams for system flushing, intake maintenance, and network stabilization at all water sources. The Authority is optimistic about achieving full restoration of the water supply system by this evening or early tomorrow morning, particularly for elevated areas.

Residents are reminded to conserve water as efforts to restore supply continue, and WAF has committed to providing ongoing updates as necessary. This coordinated response demonstrates WAF’s dedication to swiftly addressing the needs of the community and ensuring a reliable water supply for all residents.
