Police in Savusavu are currently on the hunt for several suspects following a violent incident in Vusasivo Village, Cakaudrove, where government officials were assaulted. The chaos began when the driver of a government vehicle swerved to avoid colliding with a man who was reportedly intoxicated and staggering unpredictably into the road. Subsequently, a group of intoxicated youths approached the vehicle and launched an attack on the driver and passengers, stealing their personal belongings amid the altercation.
The six victims were taken to Tukavesi Hospital for medical treatment, and two were later transferred to Labasa Hospital for further care. Presently, one victim remains in stable condition while the other has been discharged.
Authorities have begun collecting statements from the victims, and an investigation is underway with arrests expected shortly.
