Television host Savannah Guthrie made a heartfelt appeal on Monday for information regarding her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, as the search for the 84-year-old continues into its second week. In an emotional video shared on social media, Savannah urged the public to assist law enforcement in their efforts, stating, “We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock, trying to bring her home.”
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing the week before after a church member informed family that she did not attend a morning service at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, which she had been attending for years. Investigators believe she may have been taken from her home near Tucson on the night of January 31 or the early hours of February 1.
The search efforts intensified over the weekend, with authorities revisiting Nancy’s Arizona residence, which has been designated a crime scene after blood and signs of forced entry were discovered. The Pima County sheriff’s department confirmed the ongoing investigation and stated there were no suspects identified so far. Recently, detectives are also incorporating a ransom note, allegedly demanding $6 million, adding a layer of urgency to the situation. Savannah and her siblings released a video declaring their willingness to pay the ransom, saying, “We will pay.”
In another concerning development, footage showed officers investigating a septic tank on the property and towing away a vehicle believed to belong to Nancy. The inquiry also extended to Savannah’s sister Annie’s home as part of routine follow-up actions in the investigation.
While the search continues, Sheriff Chris Nanos faced backlash for attending a basketball game shortly after the Guthrie family made their emotional appeal. He has since stated that all leads are being meticulously pursued, despite expressing frustration over technological limitations in retrieving critical footage when her smart doorbell was disconnected shortly before her disappearance.
Community support for the Guthrie family remains strong, with many coming together to pray for Nancy’s safe return. Pastor John Tittle urged the congregation to respect the family’s privacy while emphasizing the importance of continuing prayers during this distressing time. As the hunt for Nancy continues, the hope remains alive that she will be found safely.
