Savannah Chrisley made headlines during her second day as a guest host on The View, engaging in a thought-provoking conversation about reality television. The panel discussed the recently released docuseries, Reality Check, which focuses on America’s Next Top Model and the backlash faced by Tyra Banks for her reactions to contestants’ traumatic experiences. The discussion soon turned personal as Chrisley, known for her own reality show, Chrisley Knows Best, shared her insights on the reality TV industry.

As the cohosts debated whether Banks should be held accountable for the negative experiences of the show’s contestants — often orchestrated by producers rather than her — Chrisley voiced her perspective on the misleading nature of reality television. She emphasized, “Signing a consent to be on a show is not signing a consent to be harmed,” pointing out the inconsistency in Banks’ narrative about her role in production. Chrisley added that while Banks sometimes claimed to be hands-on as a “Master Editor,” she also distanced herself from decisions made by production when convenient.

When asked by cohost Sunny Hostin if reality shows are heavily produced and not reflective of actual life, Chrisley affirmed her experience stating, “Very much so.” With an impressive 200 episodes under her belt, she revealed the extent to which producers craft narratives and guide responses, claiming that maybe only 5% of what audiences see on screen is genuine.

The conversation shifted to a hot topic concerning GLP-1 medications, where Chrisley supported the idea that political figures, like potential 2028 candidate J.B. Pritzker, should be transparent about their use of such drugs. She passionately advocated for their benefits, revealing her own experience of losing 40 pounds with the aid of the medications while promoting her prescription provider company.

Chrisley is cohosting The View for the remainder of the week as a substitute for regular cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin, who is currently on maternity leave. This week promises more engaging discussions and insights as Chrisley takes her place at the table.

Fans can catch The View weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
