Alejandro Sanz and Shakira have joined forces once again, this time for a romantic new song titled “Bésame,” featured on Sanz’s fresh EP, ¿Y Ahora Qué? The collaboration marks another significant milestone in their longstanding friendship and artistic partnership, following hits like “La Tortura” and “Te Lo Agradezco, Pero No.”
In “Bésame,” Sanz expresses the depth of love in his lyrics, singing in Spanish, “I don’t dare let fate decide… if there’s any risk of seeing myself without you, I don’t want to bet.” Shakira adds her distinctive voice, enhancing the emotional weight of the track.
Their recent performance in Charlotte during Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour saw them reunited on stage, delivering a rendition of their classic hit “La Tortura.” Shakira reflected on their journey in the music industry, acknowledging how their collaboration was one of the few Spanish songs to gain traction on American radio two decades ago. “It’s like celebrating after 20 years the road that we’ve traveled, and how many obstacles as artists we have overcome,” she shared.
“Bésame” is the third song they’ve collaborated on, dating back to twenty years ago when Sanz contributed to Shakira’s Fijación Oral, Vol. 1, and later worked on “Te Lo Agradezco, Pero No” from his 2006 album El Tren de Los Momentos. Their chemistry, both on stage and in the studio, continues to resonate with fans, as Sanz teased the release on social media, sharing clips from their performances and snippets of lyrics.
