SAN ANTONIO – The severe flooding that struck San Antonio earlier this week has claimed the lives of two more individuals, bringing the death toll to 13. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed on Sunday that Derwin Anderson, 43, and Roseann Cobb, 41, were among those who perished in the disaster. Authorities reported that Anderson’s body was discovered near Callaghan Road and Highway 90, while Cobb was found in the Wurzbach Parkway area.
The San Antonio Fire Department (SAFD) stated that all of the missing persons associated with the flood have now been recovered. Victims were located in various areas, with 11 bodies found in the Perrin Beitel search zone and others found upstream and near Highway 90 Leon Creek. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those lost during this tragic event,” expressed the SAFD.
As of Sunday, the medical examiner’s office has identified 12 of the 13 individuals who lost their lives. On Saturday, updates were provided that included the identities of three additional victims: Carlos Valdez III, 67; Brett Riley, 63; and Stevie Richards, 42. Earlier reports identified other victims including Christine Gonzales, Rudy Garza, Josue Pinadelatorre, Andrew Sanchez, Martha De La Torre Rangel, Victor Manuel Macias Castro, and Matthew Angel Tufono.
The flooding began early Thursday morning, with reports starting around 4:15 a.m. from people stranded along the frontage road of Loop 410 near Perrin Beitel. The swift rise in water levels led to 15 vehicles being swept away into a nearby creek. Firefighters were able to rescue 10 individuals who were clinging to trees and other debris.
