Samsung Galaxy S26: What New Features Are on the Horizon?

Leaked firmware files indicate that the Galaxy S26 Ultra is set to launch with a successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite and will come pre-installed with One UI 8.5, based on Android 16. This development aligns with a recent report by Ice Universe, which highlights a change in Samsung’s software update strategy, focusing on providing the latest One UI versions to its foldable devices and refining the software for the Galaxy S series.

The existence of the firmware files on Samsung’s server suggests that the company is actively working on One UI 8.5 for its upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup. Notably, the firmware bears the PMK8850 serial number, likely tied to Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chipset. Since the current Galaxy S25 Ultra is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, also known as 8750, it is reasonable to expect that the S26 Ultra will continue this trend with Qualcomm’s advanced processing power.

However, it appears that not all models in the Galaxy S26 series will rely on Snapdragon chips. Reports suggest the Galaxy S26+ and the standard Galaxy S26 will be powered by the new Exynos 2600 SoC. This processor is touted to deliver impressive CPU and GPU performance, with claims of improved thermal management to keep it cooler during use.

These advancements in the Galaxy S26 lineup mark an exciting evolution in Samsung’s mobile technology, promising enhanced performance and user experience. As the tech landscape evolves, consumers can look forward to these innovations contributing to more versatile and powerful smartphones in the coming year.
