Samantha Irvin Bids Farewell to WWE: What’s Next for the Beloved Announcer?

WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin has announced her departure from the company. The well-regarded presenter shared the news on social media on Monday, just hours before “Monday Night Raw,” where she served as the ringside voice.

“I love you all tremendously, and this does not mark the end of my art, I have a lifetime more to share. Thank you to every WWE fan who accepted me,” she commented in her post.

Irvin expressed her gratitude to various individuals and teams within WWE, including the women’s locker room, backstage crew, wrestlers, and executives.

Known legally as Samantha Johnson, Irvin joined WWE as the ring announcer for “WWE 205 Live” in 2021 after a brief stint trying to be a wrestler. She later transitioned to NXT and became the ring announcer for “Friday Night SmackDown” in January 2022. In February 2023, she moved to “Monday Night Raw,” marking her last role with WWE.

She quickly became a fan favorite, celebrated for her enthusiastic introductions of talent such as Roman Reigns and The Bloodline, as well as her viral introduction of Chelsea Green.

“I’m so lucky to have shared the ring with you and even luckier to have been a part of your iconic ring announcements,” Green expressed on social media.

Irvin also participated in numerous WWE premium live events, gaining acclaim during “WrestleMania 40” in April for announcing all 14 matches throughout the two-day spectacle and for her emotional call when Cody Rhodes won the Undisputed WWE Championship. Legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer praised her performance.

In addition to her announcing work, Irvin showcased her singing talent on shows like “America’s Got Talent” and “I Can See Your Voice” prior to joining WWE.

Irvin is engaged to wrestler Ricochet, who has recently departed WWE to join AEW. Although she has not disclosed her next career move, she hinted at future plans.

“To my fans, my entire career I’ve been waiting for you! We are meant to be, and I can prove it. Stay tuned,” she stated.

WWE has yet to announce Irvin’s replacement or any significant changes to its ring announcing team.
