Renowned filmmaker Sam Raimi, known for his contributions to the horror genre with classics like The Evil Dead and Drag Me to Hell, has joined forces with writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the creative minds behind Freddy vs. Jason and the 2009 incarnation of Friday the 13th, for an intriguing new project titled Send Help.

In a recent interview with Empire Online, Raimi expressed excitement about the outrageous concept pitched by Shannon and Swift, saying, “I laughed and couldn’t believe they were doing this.” He emphasized that while Send Help has some similarities to The Evil Dead, it will explore a different facet of horror that centers on personal discovery rather than external threats.

“There is a similarity,” Raimi noted, “but it’s not some outside force they’re dealing with here. What they’re coming to terms with is who they really are. And as the layers start shedding, we see certain conflicts emerge.” This introspective approach promises to add depth to the film’s narrative.

The movie stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien as Linda Liddle and Bradley Preston, respectively. In Send Help, these colleagues find themselves stranded on a deserted island after surviving a plane crash, forced to confront past grievances and collaborate for their survival. The film is set to deliver a unique blend of unsettling and darkly humorous elements, making it a psychological thriller unlike any other.

With its theatrical release scheduled for January 30, 2026, Send Help is anticipated to captivate audiences with its compelling story and the dynamic between the lead characters. Fans of both horror and psychological thrillers can look forward to another groundbreaking film from Raimi that challenges the genre’s conventions while injecting his signature outrageousness.
