Sam Elliott has joined the cast of the second season of the popular Taylor Sheridan series “Landman,” taking on the role of T.L., the grieving father of Billy Bob Thornton’s character, Tommy. At 81 years old, Elliott has made a remarkable impression on the set, earning praise from his co-star Ali Larter, who describes him as “a real kind of sweetheart on the inside.”

Larter, who portrays Angela, the reconciled ex-wife of Tommy and mother to their two children, raves about Elliott’s character, noting, “He is such an incredible man, father, husband,” and adds that there are “simply no downsides” to having him around during filming. Elliott’s portrayal as T.L. not only embodies the rugged masculinity he is known for but also reveals a gentle side that endears him to both the audience and the characters in the show.

T.L.’s presence brings a new dynamic to the storyline, especially in his interactions with Angela and their daughter Ainsley. Larter appreciates how T.L. offers a fresh perspective on their family and highlights the warmth that can be found amid the chaos surrounding them. She recalls a particularly touching scene in episode 5 where Tommy observes Angela and Ainsley, showcasing how T.L. sees them in a uniquely appreciative way, differing from Tommy’s often frustrated demeanor.

Other cast members have also expressed their admiration for Elliott. Kayla Wallace, who plays attorney Rebecca Falcone, shared that Elliott consistently graces the set, showing enthusiasm for watching his fellow actors perform, even when he isn’t in the spotlight. “He never leaves,” she remarked, adding that his humble presence enhances the filming atmosphere.

“Landman” season 2 is currently available for streaming on Paramount+, promising fans more compelling drama and character development as it continues to explore family dynamics and emotional resilience. With standout performances and a devoted cast, this season holds the potential for even deeper storytelling that resonates with audiences.
