The New Orleans Saints are reportedly bringing in former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker for a tryout, just 13 days after he served a 10-game suspension under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy. Tucker, whose phone had remained silent for some time, is set to compete for a spot alongside Cade York during the upcoming evaluation.
Despite concerns about his off-field issues and a challenging 2024 season with the Ravens where he achieved a 73.3 percent field-goal conversion rate, it seems the Saints are willing to give him another chance. This opportunity comes after Tucker faced allegations of misconduct in connection with massage therapy sessions. He has consistently denied these allegations and faced no criminal charges or civil lawsuits. Following an investigation spurred by reports from the Baltimore Banner, Tucker was released by the Ravens in May and chose to accept the suspension without contest.
This latest chapter in Tucker’s career is particularly notable given his history with the Saints, having missed the first extra point of his career in a heartbreaking one-point loss against them seven years ago. The Saints are currently facing challenges in their kicking game, as their starting kicker Blake Grupe has struggled this season, missing eight out of 26 field goals, including two key attempts in a recent game against the Falcons.
As Tucker looks to revitalize his career, the Saints may benefit from his wealth of experience and past accolades, including being a five-time first-team All-Pro. This could be an exciting opportunity for both Tucker and the Saints as they seek to improve their special teams performance.
