The Sacramento Kings have officially confirmed that star center Domantas Sabonis will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing successful surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus in his left knee. The announcement was made by NBA insider Shams Charania, highlighting the team’s continuing struggles with injuries.

Sabonis initially suffered the meniscus injury in November but managed to return to the court last month after rehabilitating the injury. However, the decision was made that surgery was necessary for him to recover properly.

This setback comes shortly after the Kings’ leading scorer, Zach Lavine, also underwent season-ending surgery to address issues with his right hand, further diminishing the roster’s strength. Both players had been subjects of trade rumors as the Kings look to revitalize their team, but they remained in Sacramento past the trade deadline.

Currently, the Kings hold a frustrating record of 12-44, making them the team with the worst record in the league. Despite the difficult season, there remains hope for the Kings as they look to rebuild through strategic trades and player development in the offseason. The resilience of the team’s management and the support from loyal fans will be key as they navigate this challenging period.
