The Columbus Crew is eager to secure their first victory under new head coach Henrik Rydstrom as they prepare to host the Chicago Fire in their home opener on March 7. The Crew faced Sporting Kansas City recently, ending the match in a 2-2 draw on February 28. Forward Diego Rossi played a pivotal role in the match, scoring an equalizer in the 81st minute, while Wessam Abou Ali had a chance to clinch the win with a penalty kick but was unable to convert five minutes later. The Crew demonstrated a strong offensive presence, outshooting Sporting Kansas City 10-8 and enjoying 58.4% possession throughout the game.

In the previous match, Abou Ali opened the scoring for the Crew after midfielder Taha Habroune caught goalie John Pulskamp off guard in the 33rd minute.

The Chicago Fire, managed by former Crew coach Gregg Berhalter, comes into this match with a record of 1-0-1, following a commanding 3-0 win against Montreal. Surprisingly, the Fire secured two late goals even after losing a player to a red card; defender Jonathan Dean was sent off in the 56th minute and will not participate in the upcoming game against the Crew.

With both teams showing competitive spirit, fans eagerly await this matchup that promises excitement on the pitch.
