Father-son duo Kurt and Wyatt Russell recently shared their thoughts on the new Apple TV series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” during a press event. “Extra’s” Terri Seymour interviewed the pair, diving into the show’s storyline and celebrating Kate Hudson’s recent Oscar nomination for her performance in “Song Sung Blue.”

Kurt expressed immense pride in his daughter, highlighting the challenges of her role. He noted, “If they throw into the consideration degree of difficulty… play someone from the Midwest and not play down to it, which is difficult for Hollywood… to just invade the role invisibly. It’s an extremely difficult role that she makes it look like… she becomes that person, and that’s a great performance.”

With Valentine’s Day approaching, Kurt shared his plans to shower his longtime partner, Goldie Hawn, with flowers and candy. Wyatt, on the other hand, affirmed that for him, “Every day is Valentine’s Day,” emphasizing the importance of this holiday in nurturing relationships.

Kurt has also been busy recently, starring in a Super Bowl commercial for Michelob ULTRA alongside Lewis Pullman and director Joe Kosinski. Reflecting on his Super Bowl experience, he mentioned past family gatherings centered around the event, particularly when their dog, Roy, starred as the Budweiser lab dog last year.

Turning to “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” Kurt teased fans about the series’ exciting elements, including significant monster action combined with deep familial stories. He remarked on how the season delves into profound questions regarding human reactions to extraordinary situations.

Wyatt discussed the unique experience of sharing the same character with his father, despite not working together on set, which adds an interesting dynamic. He enjoyed collaborating on scripts and discussing character arcs, enhancing their performances in the series.

When asked about creating realistic monster-fighting scenes, Wyatt quipped that the key lies in good acting. Kurt elaborated by stating that the absence of live monsters during filming means actors often have to imagine their reactions, pondering on what it would be like if such extraordinary creatures were genuinely present.

In addition to “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” Kurt is set to appear alongside Michelle Pfeiffer in the forthcoming series “The Madison.” Overall, the conversation highlights not just the exciting work the Russells are doing but also their close family ties and mutual support in the industry.
