Ken Marino, Richa Moorjani, and Tommy Dewey are among the fresh talent joining the cast of Netflix’s sports comedy series, “Running Point,” for its upcoming second season. The series, headlined by Kate Hudson, is set to welcome these accomplished actors as recurring guest stars, further expanding its roster.
Ken Marino, known for his roles in “The Residence” and “The Other Two,” takes on the character of the self-proclaimed “Toilet king of Orange County,” determined to secure better courtside seats for the Los Angeles Waves’ games. Richa Moorjani, recognized for her performances in “Never Have I Ever” and “Fargo,” will portray the Waves’ straightforward star accountant. Meanwhile, Tommy Dewey from “Casual” and “Saturday Night” steps into the role of the general manager for the rival team, the Toronto Trappers.
Joining them are Robert Townsend as a seasoned, somewhat irritable basketball coach, Blake Anderson as the vibrant and sober companion to Cam, Aliyah Turner as a former child star now A-list actress, and Jake Picking and Duby Maduegbunam as new players for the Los Angeles Waves.
These additions come shortly after it was announced that “Running Point” is back in production for its second season. The show will continue to delve into the comedic intricacies of the Los Angeles Waves, particularly focusing on Isla Gordon, played by Hudson. Following her promotion to president of the Waves amidst her brother’s scandal, Season 2 will see Isla striving to maintain her leadership position even as challenges arise with the return of Cam, portrayed by Justin Theroux.
The series also sees returning cast members Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, and Toby Sandeman. Uche Agada and Justin Theroux, previously recurring guest stars, are now series regulars. The show’s writing and executive production team includes Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen, with Stassen serving as the showrunner alongside exec producers such as Kate Hudson, Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis.
With a strengthened cast and a narrative poised to explore new dynamics within the LA Waves organization, the second season of “Running Point” promises engaging humor and drama for its audience.
