More than 750,000 tickets have been sold during the initial sales phase for the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027, a significant milestone as Australia gears up to host the largest tournament in its history. This edition will feature 24 teams, 52 matches, and an impressive 2.5 million tickets.

The record-breaking demand seen in the early ticket sales has already outstripped the pace of previous tournaments. A remarkable response during the initial sales opportunities, including the Superfan and Presale phases, was observed as fans from Australia and beyond rushed to secure their attendance at one of the sport’s most celebrated global events.

Within just the first six hours of the Presale, over half of the available tickets were sold, underscoring the widespread enthusiasm for both pool and knockout matches across all seven host cities. The matches generating the most interest include highly anticipated clashes such as Australia versus New Zealand, England against Wales, and Ireland facing Scotland, in addition to knockout phase games.

The global appeal of the tournament is evident, with fans from 135 different countries purchasing tickets, showcasing remarkable worldwide interest in this expanded edition. Australian supporters lead the charge, but there is also strong participation from key rugby nations and emerging teams like Hong Kong China and Zimbabwe, which will bring added excitement and diversity to the celebration.

Countries with the highest ticket sales so far include Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Japan, France, Ireland, the USA, South Africa, Chile, and Canada.

For those who missed out on the Presale, the next opportunity to secure tickets will be during the Application Phase, which opens on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. This two-week Application Phase will allow fans from around the globe to apply for tickets with a variety of pricing available for every match. A ballot system will be employed in cases where demand exceeds availability, ensuring equitable opportunities for ticket purchasing.

Rugby World Cup Experiences also provides ticket-inclusive hospitality and travel packages for fans eager to enhance their experience.

Chris Stanley, Managing Director for Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027, emphasized the significance of reaching over 750,000 tickets sold with more than 18 months until the tournament, highlighting the excitement building internationally and across Australia. He remarked, “The strong demand in every Host City and across the globe demonstrates the appetite for a truly international celebration of rugby. This tournament will bring communities together and welcome fans from across the globe to experience rugby at its very best.”

To maintain accessibility, ticket prices will start at AUD$40 for adults and AUD$20 for children, with one million tickets available at AUD$100 or less. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets only through official channels, as tickets obtained from unauthorized platforms risk cancellation. An official resale platform will be set up to allow fans to securely resell tickets for matches they cannot attend, with further details expected to be announced later this year.
