Fiji football legend Roy Krishna has made a significant return to his roots, officially signing with Bula FC as the club gears up for its new chapter. Known as one of the country’s most celebrated players, Krishna brings a wealth of international experience, leadership, and a proven track record as a goal scorer to the team.

Krishna’s journey in football began in Labasa, where he honed his skills at All Saints High School before progressing through Labasa FC and earning his place on the national team. With over 60 caps, he has established himself as one of Oceania’s most formidable forwards.

His career has spanned several top clubs across the region, including Waitakere United, Auckland City, and Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand, and a highly successful period in the Indian Super League with ATK, Mohun Bagan, Bengaluru FC, and Odisha FC. Notably, in 2019, Krishna was awarded the prestigious Johnny Warren Medal for being the A-League’s best player, finishing as the top scorer and solidifying his status among the elite strikers in the region.

Despite ongoing interest from international clubs, Krishna’s decision to return home stems from his desire to give back to the game that shaped his career. He expressed excitement about reconnecting with his roots, stating, “It’s been an amazing journey playing abroad, but there’s something special about coming back home. This is where my roots are, and I’m excited to give back.”

In addition to his on-field contributions, Krishna is expected to take on a mentoring role at Bula FC, helping to guide a young and ambitious team. “This team is full of hungry players with huge potential. I’m here not just to play, but to help guide them and show them what it takes to succeed at the highest level,” he noted.

Krishna’s return also aligns with Bula FC’s vision as they compete in Oceania’s inaugural professional football league. The veteran forward aims to contribute to the establishment of a strong foundation for the future, emphasizing, “It’s not just about me. I want these young players to go even further than I did, and I want to be part of helping them achieve that.”

Family has been a pivotal factor in his move, allowing him precious time with his wife and daughter after years away. He shared that spending time with them is “the icing on the cake.”

As he dons the number 21 jersey for Bula FC, supporters are eager to see how his experience, leadership, and goal-scoring abilities will influence the team’s historic journey. Bula FC is set to face Vanuatu United FC in their first match on the 17th of next month in Auckland, New Zealand. Krishna’s return not only elevates the team’s prospects but brings a sense of hope and excitement for the future of football in Fiji.
