Fiji’s renowned football player, Roy Krishna, has revealed that family played a crucial role in his decision to join Bula FC. This signing marks a significant milestone in his career as Bula FC prepares for the inaugural season of Oceania’s first professional football league.
Krishna’s career has taken him around the world, with stints in New Zealand, Australia, and India, where various esteemed clubs sought his talent. However, he has often had to sacrifice precious moments with his loved ones due to the demands of professional football. With the opportunity to play for Bula FC, he sees a chance to reconnect with his roots and balance his career with family life.
“My motivation was probably coming home; being around my family was the biggest factor,” Krishna expressed. He also expressed gratitude towards the coaching staff for their support in making his transition seamless. “Everything was easy, and I’m really glad to be home,” he added.
In his initial training sessions with the team, Krishna has acknowledged the intense preparation his teammates are undertaking as they ready themselves for an elevated level of competition. “It’s very exciting but tough training, and this is what professional football is about,” he stated. He is aware of the challenges his teammates face, particularly around running and conditioning, but remains hopeful that their hard work will pay off when the season begins.
Bula FC’s first match in the OFC Pro League is scheduled against Vanuatu FC on January 23, at Eden Park, Auckland. Embracing this new chapter in his career, Roy Krishna is set to wear the number 21 jersey, adding a personal touch to his homecoming in Fijian football. This development brings encouragement and excitement to fans, as they look forward to seeing Krishna shine on the field while being closer to his family.
