The Tribal Risk Nasinu Grassroots Volleyball competition is intensifying in round three at the Vodafone Arena in Suva. Teams are fiercely competing for prizes totaling $5,000 for the men’s division and $2,000 for the women’s division, marking the event’s evolution from a community pastime to a serious competitive event.

Matai Daulako, president of the organizing club, highlighted the significance of the competition. “A $5,000 prize for a men’s grassroots win is a massive motivator,” he remarked, emphasizing the benefits that this funding brings back to local clubs in terms of improved training and equipment.

Teams such as Vesida One, Team Fire, Drifters, Highway, and Easternville are displaying unyielding determination as they challenge the established frontrunners in the tournament. The Nasinu teams are especially motivated, undertaking a “revenge tour” after a recent setback in the Vulaca Championship, eager to reclaim their pride and dominance on their home ground during the Vanua Challenge.

The venues, provided by the Fiji Sports Council, including the HFC Bank Stadium and FMF Gymnasium, are enhancing the players’ experience and spotlighting the sport, encouraging athletes to push their limits.

The competition is scheduled to run until March, culminating in an exciting finale at round nine, where anticipation will build as hopes and ambitions collide on the court. The enthusiasm surrounding the event reflects a growing interest in volleyball within the community, fostering a spirit of competition and collaboration among players and fans alike.
