Residents of Rotuma are set to benefit from the development of new sports facilities aimed at fostering youth involvement and enhancing community spirit. Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Aliki Bia announced in Parliament on March 9 that construction of a multi-purpose hardcourt will begin later this month. This initiative is part of a larger strategy by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to enhance sporting opportunities, especially in communities where such facilities are limited.
Bia also shared that plans are underway for the creation of a community sports ground in Rotuma. He emphasized the importance of these facilities in motivating young individuals to engage in sports and lead healthier lives, while also strengthening social ties within the community.
Furthermore, the initiative is expected to provide young athletes on the island with the resources they need to develop their skills and explore competitive sports opportunities. This development aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to fostering a more active and connected youth demographic in Rotuma, promising a brighter future for the island’s younger population.
