MILWAUKEE — Mohamed Diawara seized his opportunity on Friday night, contributing significantly to the Knicks’ emphatic 127-98 victory over the Bucks. The rookie, who has been vying for playing time alongside Jeremy Sochan, showcased his talent with 10 points, including two three-pointers, all while being a game-high plus-25 in just 22 minutes of play.

Diawara’s performance came as a welcome return to form after he experienced a dip in playing time over the preceding three games, where Sochan had edged him in the rotation. Typically, coach Mike Brown keeps a tight nine-man rotation, making Diawara’s ninth spot on Friday crucial for his development as a rookie.

“Everybody has been telling me to stay ready,” Diawara expressed. “For real, the players and the staff. It’s my first year, so not everything will be perfect. I just have to stay ready for whenever my name gets called.”

On the other end, Sochan struggled to make an impact, registering only two points and two rebounds in five minutes of garbage time. Coach Brown acknowledged the dynamic between the two players but emphasized the importance of maintaining readiness among all team members.

In additional team news, the trade rumors involving Karl-Anthony Towns and the Bucks have resurfaced, particularly with the shared element of salary matching with superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Depending on how the season unfolds, and if Antetokounmpo becomes available, Towns may find himself at the center of trade discussions once again.

Towns, who was traded to New York from Minnesota in 2024, conveyed a sense of resilience regarding the noise around trade rumors. “I’m not going to have to change how I live and how I approach work, how I approach life because of one instance,” he remarked. “It’s just a bump in the road. I’m going to continue to be who I am as a person.”

He elaborated on the importance of maintaining focus beyond basketball, mentioning the positive aspects of his personal life, including a happy family and a supportive fiancée. Towns highlighted that his approach to life has kept him grounded and motivated.

As the Knicks continue their season, Diawara’s resurgence is promising, and with Towns’ experienced mindset, the team looks to capitalize on the season ahead, giving fans hope for a competitive run.
