Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton is currently facing an eviction notice for his residence in Banks, as revealed by court documents. Burton, who is a rookie from Alabama, did not accompany his team for their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, a decision made by head coach Zac Taylor. However, Taylor remains tight-lipped about the reasons behind this decision.
The plaintiff in this case, Radius Acquisition LLC, filed for eviction in the Hamilton County Municipal Court on Christmas Eve. The company indicated that it had issued a three-day notice for Burton to vacate his Freedom Way apartment on December 17, a request that has reportedly gone unheeded.
The eviction proceedings detail that the landlord is seeking over $2,500 in overdue rent, in addition to $75.35 for each day Burton remains in the apartment beyond the eviction notice. Furthermore, Radius Acquisition is pursuing $10,000 for alleged damages to the premises that surpass typical wear and tear, although specifics regarding these damages have not been disclosed.
Burton is scheduled for a court appearance on January 24 to address the eviction matter.
This situation highlights the pressures that young athletes may face off the field, as financial stability is crucial for maintaining a successful career. Burton’s circumstances could serve as a learning experience, reminding athletes to manage their resources wisely as they navigate the responsibilities that come with professional sports. There is hope that this challenge will lead to a positive outcome and personal growth for the rookie.
