David Feldman is currently facing challenges in securing an opponent for Yoel Romero’s debut in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). At a recent Champions Summit press conference, it was announced that the former UFC and Bellator title contender will make his promotional debut on September 12 at the Hard Rock in Miami, his hometown. However, Feldman revealed that they are still in the process of arranging a matchup, with several fighters having already declined the opportunity.
Feldman expressed his excitement about Romero’s entry into BKFC, highlighting the thrill of seeing him compete in a different format. “We have a couple of guys who already turned it down, and then we just had one guy that said he would take it,” he shared. Although uncertainty remains around the fight, the potential for an explosive debut is palpable.
Additionally, the BKFC has been expanding its roster with notable signings, including former UFC fighters Thiago Santos, Aspen Ladd, and Derek Brunson. Feldman sees this as a sign of the organization’s growth and resilience. Reflecting on the challenges faced while establishing BKFC, he remarked on his commitment, stating, “This is not easy. This is hard. If you’re not 120 percent fully committed to making this thing work, it can’t work.”
Feldman believes that BKFC has quickly become one of the leading promotions in combat sports, especially with Conor McGregor joining as a partner. He remains optimistic about the future, saying, “Things are going really, really great for us, and I’m very, very happy where we’re at.” This sentiment underscores the potential for BKFC to carve out a significant niche in the broader combat sports landscape.
As fans await Romero’s debut, there is a growing anticipation surrounding the impact of these developments on BKFC’s trajectory, suggesting a bright future ahead.
