SAN JOSE, Calif.—Roku has introduced significant updates to its user interface (UI) aimed at enhancing the visibility of original programming on its platform.
The standout feature of this new UI experience is titled “Live from Roku City.” This immersive addition transforms Roku’s beloved animated cityscape, a screensaver displayed in over 90 million households, into a vibrant stage for music, original storytelling, and interactive content.
The inaugural performance in this series features Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum artist Demi Lovato. Starting October 14, viewers can explore the skyline of Roku City and interact with various buildings to access an exclusive stage where Lovato will perform her song “Here All Night” from her upcoming album, as well as a cover of the classic hit “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”
Additionally, Roku has developed an on-platform showroom accompanying the performance. This includes behind-the-scenes videos, exclusive photographs, Lovato’s personal streaming recommendations, and a pre-save option for her forthcoming album.
Charlie Collier, president of Roku Media, expressed enthusiasm for the new experience, stating, “With ‘Live from Roku City’ we’re doubling down on so much of what makes our platform special. Roku delivers TV’s broadest reach environment, and with the addition of original video storytelling for the first time in Roku City, we’re also providing TV’s biggest stage.” He highlighted Lovato’s authenticity and commitment to her fans, which aligns with Roku’s vision of showcasing artists in creative and innovative ways.
The production of “Live from Roku City featuring Demi Lovato” is managed by Good World Creative and London Alley, directed by renowned music video director Hannah Lux Davis, and overseen by Roku’s head of Roku Originals, Brian Tannenbaum. This project marks an exciting new chapter for Roku as it aims to amplify original content and enhance viewer engagement on its platform.
