Rod Stewart has expressed his deep regret after announcing the cancellation of several upcoming shows in the United States, as he recovers from the flu. The 80-year-old music icon shared his heartfelt message on Instagram, explaining that he would be canceling four performances and rescheduling two others due to his ongoing recovery.
In his post, he expressed, “I have to cancel and reschedule my next six concerts in June as I continue to recover from the flu. So sorry my friends. I’m devastated and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to my fans. I’ll be back on stage and will see you soon.” He ended his message on a poignant note, signing off with a broken heart emoji.
The affected shows were set to take place in Las Vegas and Stateline, Nevada, from June 7 to June 14, with two others in Rancho Mirage and Paso Robles, California, now rescheduled for September.
Despite this setback, Stewart recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the American Music Awards, recognizing his illustrious career that spans over six decades. He is also slated to perform at the Glastonbury Festival later this month, where he is expected to draw a crowd of approximately 100,000 fans. This appearance is particularly notable as Stewart had previously shared his intention to cease “large-scale world tours” after 2025, but he remains eager to entertain at Glastonbury.
The festival will feature other prominent headliners including The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo, promising an exciting event for music lovers.
This situation, while unfortunate, provides hope that upon his recovery, Stewart will return to the stage revitalized and ready to delight fans with his legendary performances. With his history of resilience and passion for music, fans can look forward to his eventual return to live shows.
