Rocking for a Cause: Join the Pawsitively 4 Pink Fundraising Concert!

A fundraising concert organized by Pawsitively 4 Pink, a Worcester-based group dedicated to supporting low-income women affected by breast cancer, will take place at SAC Park in Shrewsbury on October 5 from 4 to 9 p.m., regardless of weather conditions. The event will showcase Taylor Nation, a tribute band performing hits from every era of Taylor Swift’s career.

Concert-goers can expect an enjoyable evening filled with music, singing, and friendship bracelet exchanges, all while contributing to a meaningful cause. Ticket purchases will directly support local women in need.

Founded in 2018 by Michelle Power, whose family has faced multiple battles with breast cancer, Pawsitively 4 Pink has raised more than $790,000 to assist low-income families struggling with the financial impact of the disease. Many women diagnosed with breast cancer face overwhelming bills that can be challenging to manage, particularly when treatment forces them out of work for extended periods.

The organization helps alleviate some of these financial burdens, often assisting women with their mortgage payments.

Power emphasized the struggles many of these women encounter, stating, “Unfortunately we still live in a time where people do judge people as lazy, and nobody wants to have those labels on them. In fact, many of the women we work with aren’t in that position at all. It’s not about being lazy. It’s about a diagnosis that puts them in this situation.” She also reflected on her own past, noting the kindness she received during difficult times and expressing her desire to give back to those in similar situations.

Kathy Chapman, the organization’s president and Power’s spouse of 20 years, shared her commitment to serving the community, saying, “We’re both very compassionate, community-focused, and caring people. Not only is this something Michelle has a passion for, but we both have a passion for helping people, and we continue to do it in numerous ways.”

Doors will open at 3 p.m., with an opening performance by Whitney Doucet at 4 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Chapman described the event as “family-friendly” and “affordable,” highlighting its dual purpose of providing enjoyment while supporting the community and local women in need.
