Rock Music Shockwaves: Oasis Reunites, Whibley’s Memoir, and Linkin Park’s Big Reveal!

This week has seen major developments in the rock music scene. Oasis has officially announced a long-anticipated reunion, while both Linkin Park and Deryck Whibley hinted at exciting news scheduled for Wednesday morning, August 28. This timing led many fans to speculate whether the Sum 41 frontman might be joining Linkin Park as their new vocalist or touring with Oasis. However, Whibley took to social media to clarify the situation and share his own news.

“I want to clarify once again that I am not joining any other bands. It’s amusing how many messages I received inquiring if I was joining Oasis,” he stated with a chuckle, before revealing his announcement. Whibley is set to publish a memoir titled Walking Disaster, with plans to sign book sleeves during his upcoming tour for fans who have already pre-ordered the book. He shared insights into what readers can anticipate from the memoir, which is set to be released on October 8.

“Some aspects are good, some are bad, and some are so personal that it’s hard to believe I even shared them. But I think if you’re writing a book, you have to be honest,” he expressed.

Sum 41 will kick off their farewell tour on September 4, culminating in their final performance on January 30, 2025, in Toronto. Speculation has also circulated about Linkin Park’s future with a new lead singer since Orgy’s Jay Gordon indicated back in April that the band might be returning with a female vocalist. Initially, Amy Lee of Evanescence was rumored to be taking over for the late Chester Bennington, but she quickly dismissed such speculation. Linkin Park is expected to unveil their significant announcement at 11:15 AM PST.
