Rock Legends Tease Major Announcements: What’s Next for Fans?

This week has brought significant news for rock music fans. Oasis has officially announced a highly anticipated reunion, while both Linkin Park and Deryck Whibley have teased their own announcements set to drop on Wednesday morning, August 28. This timing sparked speculation among fans that the Sum 41 frontman might be joining Linkin Park as their new vocalist or possibly collaborating with Oasis. However, Whibley took to social media to clarify the situation and share his own exciting news.

He stated, “I would like to reiterate one more time that I am not joining any other bands. It’s interesting, though, how many messages I received asking if I was joining Oasis.” Following this, he revealed that he will be publishing a book titled Walking Disaster, which is set for release on October 8. Whibley announced he will also be signing book sleeves for fans during his tour for those who have already purchased the memoir, giving insight into what readers can expect from the book.

“Some aspects are good, some bad, and some are so personal that I can’t believe I shared them. But I figured if you’re writing a book, you have to be honest,” he explained.

Sum 41 is gearing up to resume their farewell tour on September 4 and will conclude their final show ever on January 30, 2025, in Toronto. Meanwhile, rumors of Linkin Park moving forward with a new singer have emerged since Orgy’s Jay Gordon mentioned he had heard they might be bringing on a female vocalist. While Amy Lee of Evanescence was briefly speculated to be joining as a successor to the late Chester Bennington, she has since dismissed those claims. Linkin Park is expected to announce their big news at 11:15 am PST.
