ROCHESTER, N.Y. – On Wednesday, Rochester experienced its warmest weather since last August, with high temperatures reaching the upper 80s. The last instance of warmer conditions was recorded on August 27th of the previous year, when temperatures peaked at 89°.

For those who prefer milder temperatures, the weather is expected to cool down over the next few days, with highs returning to the 70s. However, the region will see an increase in cloud cover along with the possibility of occasional showers and thunderstorms due to a slowly moving cold front. This front is predicted to linger over the area through Saturday, leading to a somewhat unsettled weather pattern. Nevertheless, forecasts suggest that there will be more dry periods than wet ones, with rain primarily anticipated around the Finger Lakes region.

In terms of air quality, the cold front is expected to help disperse wildfire smoke. While some haze may linger overhead on Thursday, the air quality is projected to remain good for the majority of residents and is likely to improve further by Friday.

Looking toward the weekend, Saturday may begin with some damp conditions due to early showers, but as the cold front finally moves south, the sky should clear, providing a pleasant atmosphere for events like Fairport Canal Days. Following this weekend, a more stable and dry weather pattern is expected to settle in, with the next chance of widespread showers and storms arriving on Monday with another advancing cold front.

Overall, while the current weather may bring a mix of conditions, the outlook suggests opportunities for enjoyable and dry weather later in the week.
