BOSTON — The Boston Athletic Association Half Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, drawing thousands of runners and spectators to the city. City officials are warning residents and visitors to prepare for significant traffic disruptions and parking restrictions in various neighborhoods.

An overnight parking ban will be enforced from 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, until 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, affecting several streets. These include Perkins Street, the Arborway (between the Arnold Arboretum and South Street), and the Riverway (between Short Street and Park Drive).

On the day of the event, traffic will be restricted with key road closures from 7:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The closures include Morton Street at Harvard Street, extending north on the Arborway to Kelly Circle at Jamaica Pond, as well as Parkman Drive, Perkins Street (from Prince Street to the Jamaicaway), and segments of the Jamaicaway to the Riverway.

Drivers are advised to consider alternate routes and allocate extra time for travel. Utilizing public transportation is highly encouraged, as it may ease congestion.

The B.A.A. Half Marathon course will traverse Boston’s picturesque Emerald Necklace park system, providing a scenic backdrop for this popular event. Participants and onlookers alike are expected to enjoy a vibrant atmosphere as the community comes together to support the race.
