ABC is set to enhance its Tuesday night programming with the introduction of a new special investigator series titled “RJ Decker.” The show features Scott Speedman in the lead role, alongside a talented cast including Jaina Lee Ortiz as Emilia “Emi” Ochoa, Bevin Bru as Detective Melody “Mel” Abreau, Kevin Rankin as Aloysius “Wish” Aiken, and Adelaide Clemens as Catherine Delacroix.
Inspired by Carl Hiaasen’s novel “Double Whammy,” “RJ Decker” centers on a disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con attempting to reinvent himself as a private investigator in the vibrant yet crime-ridden landscape of South Florida. The storyline presents a unique blend of cases that are ranging from the mildly unusual to the outright bizarre, highlighting Decker’s journey as he navigates his new career with the help of his journalist ex-girlfriend, her police detective wife, and a mysterious benefactor from his past.
The series is scheduled to premiere on March 3 at 10 PM on ABC, with availability for streaming the following day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
In conjunction with this new addition, “The Rookie” will shift toMonday nights at 10 PM, starting January 26, right after the premiere of “American Idol.” This move will allow “The Rookie” to air its remaining episodes consecutively without interruptions.
