Rising Stars Shine at NBA Summer League!

NBA Summer League action continued over the weekend with thrilling contests at the California Classic, featuring the Spurs vs. Warriors and the Lakers vs. Heat. Highlighting the day’s gameplay were standout performances from several players.

L.A. Lakers forward Cole Swider again impressed, mirroring his previous game’s impressive stats by shooting 7-for-10 from the field, contributing to 20 points in the Lakers’ commanding 103-83 victory over the Miami Heat. The 26-year-old demonstrated his mid-range shooting ability and showcased strong ball security with just three turnovers across nearly 60 minutes of play. Swider, standing at 6-foot-8, has been navigating his way through the league since going undrafted in 2022, and the Lakers provide another opportunity for him to shine.

In another notable performance, 23-year-old David Jones-Garcia also had a strong showing, leading all scorers with 25 points as he efficiently shot 9-for-14 against the Warriors. Jones-Garcia’s ability to score from various levels is promising, though his nine turnovers over the first two games remain a concern that needs to be addressed.

LJ Cryer, a undrafted guard, continued to prove his shooting prowess that he displayed in college. After a modest performance previously, he rose to the occasion by netting five three-pointers and scoring a total of 19 points in just under 23 minutes of play.

The Summer League offers a platform for developing players to display their talents, and games like these highlight the depth of potential stars waiting for their chance in the NBA. With young talent like Swider, Jones-Garcia, and Cryer making headlines, fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead as these players work to solidify their places in the league.
