The G League season has kicked off, and while the Delaware Blue Coats have had a challenging start with a 1-4 record, the developmental league remains focused on nurturing talent. Amidst the struggles, new players have showcased bright spots.
One notable addition is Lester Quinones, a G League veteran enlisted on a two-way contract by the Philadelphia 76ers. Quinones has made a significant impact, leading the Blue Coats with an average of 20.5 points across five games. Although his shooting efficiency needs improvement—currently hovering in the low 40s for field goal percentage and 33 percent on three-point attempts—his scoring ability and defensive skills suggest he could be a valuable asset for the Sixers in their pursuit of shooting talent.
Another exciting player is Adem Bona, the 76ers’ second-round draft pick assigned to the Blue Coats. He made a strong debut against the Maine Celtics, recording 14 points, nine rebounds, five assists, three steals, and three blocks in under 30 minutes. His energetic playing style was evident, and he managed to stay disciplined, committing only one foul—an encouraging sign for a young big man often criticized for foul trouble.
Judah Mintz, who previously played in the Summer League for the Sixers, is also making strides as a starting guard for the Blue Coats. Over four games, he has posted an average of 17.5 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds while shooting an impressive 48.8 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc. His performance is drawing attention, and he could be a candidate for a two-way contract should the Sixers decide to adjust their roster.
Fans can look forward to seeing Quinones, Bona, Mintz, and the rest of the Blue Coats in their upcoming game against the Westchester Knicks on Thursday, November 21, at 7 p.m. E.T.
This season may be off to a rocky start for the Blue Coats, but with emerging talents like Quinones, Bona, and Mintz, there is reason for optimism as these players continue to develop and showcase their skills.
