Rising Stars: Barça Academy Talents Take on Barcelona’s Youth Stage

As in prior years, three promising talents from Barça Academy Pro Arizona have been invited to train with the youth teams of FC Barcelona. The selected young athletes for this year are Graham Ford, Makai Wells, and Jorge Padilla. All three players participated in last year’s MLS playoffs, a competition that is gaining momentum and popularity year after year.

Graham Ford is currently training with the U16A team after making a positive impression during a previous training camp. This left-footed central midfielder is known for his teamwork, ball recovery skills, and tactical understanding of the game.

Makai Wells is also working with the U16A squad, marking his first visit to Barcelona. As a right winger, he excels in his passing ability and is particularly effective in one-on-one situations. Wells joined Barça Academy Pro Arizona last year and has quickly shown his potential.

Meanwhile, Jorge Padilla is practicing with the U19B team for the first time after spending four years at the Arizona center. His standout performance in the MLS U16 playoffs played a significant role in his selection for this opportunity in Europe. Padilla, known for his strong tackling and direct playing style, is a right-sided midfielder whose dedication has earned him this rewarding experience in Barcelona.

The Barça Residency Academy in Arizona is unique in North America, having opened in 2017. It features FC Barcelona coaches to ensure the effective application of Barça’s training methods. Located in Casa Grande, the academy includes eight soccer fields and a study center affiliated with Arizona State University. It is the only Barça Academy with a team competing in MLS Next, the premier youth league in the United States.

This initiative not only showcases the commitment of Barça to nurturing young talent across the globe but also emphasizes the growing strength of youth soccer in the United States. With a solid foundation and an increasing number of opportunities, these young athletes are on the path to achieving their dreams.

In summary, the involvement of these young players in Barcelona’s youth training highlights the academy’s objective of identifying and developing talent while fostering international relationships that enrich the sport. With consistent support and training, there is hope for these players to flourish and make substantial contributions to the future of soccer.
