Rising Stars: Angel Reese Takes the WNBA by Storm

Angel Reese, the talented forward for the Chicago Sky, has made waves in the 2024 WNBA Draft as a first-round pick and is now enjoying a remarkable rookie season. With an average of 13.6 points and an impressive 13.1 rebounds per game, she earned spots on both the All-Star and All-Rookie teams.

In her second season, Reese has elevated her performance, being selected for the 2025 WNBA All-Star team and significantly increasing her assists from 1.9 to 3.8 per game, while still contributing 13.3 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. Off the court, she has further distinguished herself by being announced as the cover athlete for the WNBA edition of EA Sports’ 2K26 video game, and her signature shoe, “The Angel Reese 1,” is set to be released soon.

Fellow WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu, a guard for the New York Liberty and a four-time All-Star, praised Reese’s achievements. Ionescu, who was featured on the cover of 2K24, called it “iconic” for Reese to debut her shoe on the cover of 2K26. She acknowledged the global significance of being featured on such a platform and expressed joy for Reese, emphasizing the importance of early recognition in a player’s career.

This season, Ionescu has been performing exceptionally well, averaging 19.4 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game, which has helped her secure her fourth consecutive All-Star appearance. She and Reese will both be playing as part of Team Clark in the upcoming All-Star game on July 19.

Looking ahead, Reese and the Sky will face off against the formidable Minnesota Lynx, boasting an 18-3 record, in a game scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. With both players excelling, the future of women’s basketball looks bright and promising. Their success on and off the court is setting a new standard for the league and inspiring the next generation of athletes.
