Rising Star: Sudarshan Yellamaraju Aims for Second Win at Knoxville Open

Indo-Canadian golfer Sudarshan Yellamaraju is making waves at the Visit Knoxville Open as he aims for his second win of the season. With impressive rounds of 67, 65, and 68, Yellamaraju has positioned himself at Tied-fifth with an aggregate score of 13-under 200 after three days of play. Notably, he recorded his second bogey-free round this week, showcasing his consistency by sinking four birdies, including one on the seventh hole and three others on the 12th, 15th, and 18th holes.

Earlier in the season, Yellamaraju celebrated a victory at the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic in January and recently placed sixth at the AdventHealth Championship, proving his skills and potential in the competitive golfing arena.

Sudarshan, who hails from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, India, moved to Canada as a child. Although his father, now based in Bengaluru, worked near a golf course, he didn’t initially take interest in the sport. However, Sudarshan’s curiosity sparked at the young age of four, leading him to start with plastic clubs and balls. His passion flourished as he joined a Future Links camp, paving the way for his journey into professional golf.

Following in the footsteps of icons like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, Yellamaraju has his sights set on the Korn Ferry Tour, where continued success could earn him exemptions to compete in PGA Tour events, bringing him closer to achieving his dream of playing on the world’s premier golfing stage.

This young golfer’s journey reflects a blend of passion, hard work, and determination, bringing hope to aspiring athletes everywhere. With more tournaments ahead, Yellamaraju’s story serves as an inspiring reminder of the possibilities that exist when one follows their dreams.
