Bella Devey recently enjoyed an unforgettable summer vacation before starting her college journey at North Carolina. The recent Lone Peak graduate showcased her skills alongside former U.S. soccer stars such as Carli Lloyd, Ali Krieger, Jill Loyden, and Salt Lake City’s own Alexandra Kimball.
Devey and her U.S. teammates—many of whom will be her future teammates at UNC—celebrated victory in The Soccer Tournament, a prestigious seven-a-side competition held at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina, which awarded a grand prize of $1 million to the winning team. Not only did Devey participate in the tournament, she also excelled on the field. The talented forward, who accumulated 50 goals and 36 assists throughout her high school career while guiding Lone Peak to consecutive 6A titles in 2023 and 2024, was named both the MVP and to the all-tournament Best Seven for her pivotal contributions.
One of her standout moments included a crucial assist during the final match against Bumpy Pitch FC, where she set up a goal that highlighted her exceptional playmaking skills. The U.S. Women’s team claimed their second consecutive title in this tournament, which is organized by TBT Enterprises, the same organization behind the popular Basketball Tournament. This year, the women’s category expanded significantly from eight to 16 teams, demonstrating the growing popularity of women’s soccer.
The tournament also marked a pivotal moment for women’s sports, being broadcasted widely on ESPN+ and featuring unique gameplay rules that introduced a target score system to create excitement in every match. This format ensures that games are fast-paced and engaging, thrilling audiences both in the stadium and at home.
Devey’s achievements and the continued growth of women’s soccer highlight the promising future for the sport, setting a positive precedent for aspiring young athletes.
