RKS Captain Ravukivuki Earns Fiji 7s Extended Squad Call-Up Ahead of Dubai 7s

Rising Fiji rugby star Lemeki Ravukivuki earns 7s call-up ahead of Dubai

Years of hard work and commitment are beginning to pay off for Lemeki Ravukivuki, the head boy of Ratu Kadavulevu School, as he has recently been named to the national extended squad for the 7s rugby team. This significant recognition comes on the heels of his successful leadership as captain of the school’s under-18 team, which secured the Vodafone Deans Trophy just two months ago.

Hailing from Kabariki in Kadavu, Ravukivuki is one of two players from his school’s U18 squad selected for national training sessions. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the game, emphasizing the importance of teamwork. “What I’m looking for is teamwork. I told the boys that I can’t rely solely on talent; we’re all x-factors. If we connect and work together as a team, then Dubai will be a very promising outing,” he stated.

Alongside teammate Suliano Savenaca, Ravukivuki is set to join a development team heading to Korea, a crucial step as they prepare to showcase their talents, particularly with the national men’s 7s team preparing to leave for the Dubai 7s this Sunday.

This promising trajectory aligns with the mission of Ratu Kadavulevu School, known for its strong emphasis on nurturing rugby talent. The recent achievements of its teams, including the under-17 squad’s victory in the Super Deans championships, reflect the institution’s commitment to the development of young athletes. With players like Ravukivuki and Savenaca emerging, the future of Fijian rugby appears bright and full of potential.

As the national team prepares for the Dubai tournament, the inclusion of rising stars like Ravukivuki symbolizes a hopeful future for Fiji rugby, rooted in teamwork and dedication. The excitement around these athletes captures the aspirations not only of the players but of the entire Fijian rugby community, eagerly awaiting their performances on the international stage.
