Rishad Hossain, the promising allrounder from Bangladesh, has named Indian cricket star Virat Kohli as his favorite wicket during his two years in international cricket. This notable dismissal occurred during the Champions Trophy held earlier this year, where Rishad trapped Kohli, who managed to score only 22 runs from 38 balls, in a thrilling encounter at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
In that Group A match, despite Rishad’s impressive bowling figures of 2 wickets for 38 runs, Bangladesh ultimately lost to India by six wickets, largely due to Shubman Gill’s outstanding performance. Kohli’s wicket came when he attempted a late cut, edging the ball into the hands of Soumya Sarkar, who made the catch look easy.
Reflecting on the experience, Rishad expressed his delight, saying, “I think my favourite wicket in the Champions Trophy was Virat Kohli. It was a completely new experience for me. When I came home and checked my phone, I saw so many comments and messages; it was overwhelming but really heartwarming.”
Rishad is set to make his debut in the Big Bash League with the Hobart Hurricanes, a momentous occasion as he becomes the first Bangladeshi player to participate in the league since Shakib Al Hasan’s stint with the Melbourne Renegades during the 2014-15 season. This year, he had previously been selected to join the Hurricanes but could not fulfill the opportunity because the Bangladesh Cricket Board withheld his No Objection Certificate.
Excited about his upcoming participation, he remarked, “I am truly happy and excited for the Big Bash. It is one of the biggest leagues in the world, which makes it very important for me. As a Bangladeshi, I always try to represent my country to the best of my ability, and I will give 100 percent in Hobart.”
