Riot Games Unveils 2XKO: A New Fighting Game Adventure Awaits!

Riot Games, best known for its iconic title League of Legends, is branching out into new territory with the upcoming fighting game 2XKO, previously known as Project L. Set to enter closed beta on September 9, the game has already generated excitement among fans eager to explore this new genre.

2XKO takes cues from popular tag-team fighters like the Marvel vs. Capcom series and Dragon Ball Fighter Z, offering a different experience from traditional fighting games like Street Fighter. At the recent EVO Las Vegas event, which runs from August 1 to 3, Riot unveiled that Vi, a prominent character from the hit Netflix series Arcane, will be included as a playable character. Her involvement adds a familiar face for fans of the series, complementing another Arcane character, Jinx, who has already been integrated into the game.

The closed beta will first be available for Windows PCs, with plans to extend to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S later on, and an expected cross-save feature will allow players to maintain their progress across different platforms. Interested players can register for the beta directly through the official 2XKO website, with automatic access granted to those who participated in prior alpha playtests.

Riot has indicated that 2XKO will cater to both seasoned fighting game enthusiasts and newcomers. The game is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring easily executable combos and simplified controls that make it a good starting point for players unfamiliar with fighting games.

Although no specific release date has been provided for 2XKO, its anticipated launch later this year is generating buzz. For League of Legends fans and newcomers alike, the beta offers a unique opportunity to dive into a fresh gaming experience that highlights a new art style and innovative interpretations of beloved characters.

This initiative may reflect a positive move for Riot Games as it expands its offerings, potentially drawing in an even broader audience to the fighting game genre.
