With Comic-Con International set to attract over 135,000 attendees starting Wednesday, local transit authorities are emphasizing the benefits of using public transportation to bypass heavy traffic and parking challenges. The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and North County Transit – San Diego Railroad (NCTD) have announced enhanced services and discounted multi-day passes for attendees.

MTS board chair and San Diego city councilman Stephen Whitburn remarked, “Public transit is hands-down the best way to get to Comic-Con.” He highlighted the expanded services, discounted transit passes, and convenient drop-off points near the Convention Center, ensuring a seamless travel experience for guests.

Comic-Con attendees can purchase PRONTO passes through the transit app, with options starting at $10 for two to five days of service. NCTD is offering a COASTER 5-Pack, which allows for five days of rides at the price of three, providing significant savings for event-goers.

NCTD Board Chair Priya Bhat-Patel emphasized that attendees should focus on enjoying the event rather than worrying about traffic and parking. She encouraged fans to take the COASTER, allowing them to showcase their costumes and interact with fellow enthusiasts during their journey.

To accommodate the influx of visitors, MTS will bolster service frequency, with trolleys scheduled to run every 15 minutes or better, along with extended late-night services throughout the convention days. Key transit stations near the convention include Convention Center Station, Gaslamp Quarter Station, and 12th & Imperial Station, which are well-equipped to handle the increased traffic.

This effort underscores the importance of public transit during major events, providing both convenience and affordability, and helping to create a more enjoyable experience for all Comic-Con participants.
