Rico Scott is set to remain with the Alabama football team, dispelling previous speculation about his entry into the NCAA transfer portal. Reports indicate that Scott, a wide receiver, will continue with the Crimson Tide in 2026.
Alabama recently faced the departure of three wide receivers—Aeryn “Bubba” Hampton, Cole Adams, and Jaylen Mbakwe—who transferred out, with Mbakwe transferring to Georgia Tech. Despite these losses, Alabama football has promising talent in its ranks. Alongside Scott, the team is expected to welcome back players such as Ryan Williams, Derek Meadows, and Lotzeir Brooks. Additionally, Isaiah Horton is returning for his final season of eligibility, and high-profile recruit Cederian Morgan, a four-star freshman, is joining the wide receiver group.
Reflecting on his upcoming season, Scott emphasized the importance of focusing on personal performance rather than external expectations. “I just kind of think of it as I just got to go out there and do my job,” Scott stated. “Can’t really worry about other people’s expectations of you. Just got to play your game.”
Originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Scott has made a significant contribution to the team over two seasons, recording 16 receptions for 158 yards and three touchdowns. His most recent catch came during a game against Eastern Illinois, and despite limited playing time in critical matchups against Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Indiana, Scott’s commitment to improving is evident.
As Alabama prepares for the 2026 season, the acquisition of new talent and the retention of existing players create a hopeful outlook for the upcoming year. The evolving dynamics within the wide receiver room could prove advantageous as the Crimson Tide aim for a successful season ahead.
