Rhea Seehorn, the Emmy-nominated actress known for her role as Kim Wexler in “Better Call Saul,” is set to return to the screen in a new series called “Pluribus,” created by Vince Gilligan. The recently released trailer reveals a new character, Carol, who is characterized as “the most miserable person on Earth” and finds herself in a unique predicament—tasked with saving a world filled with happiness.
In “Pluribus,” Carol, a romance novelist, starts to notice an unsettling trend while promoting her latest book: everyone around her seems overly happy. Upon investigating, she discovers a virus that has infected humanity, rendering everyone but her optimistic and content. The narrative promises to explore Carol’s interactions with doctors who are determined to understand her unique outlook on life and how it differs from everyone else’s.
Joining Seehorn in the series are talents such as Karolina Wydra and Carlos-Manuel Vesga, with guest appearances from Samba Schutte and Miriam Shor. The show, which has already been picked up for two seasons, marks a reunion for Gilligan and Seehorn, who previously collaborated on the highly acclaimed “Better Call Saul,” which ran for six seasons from 2015 to 2022.
Gilligan has teased that Carol’s journey to uncover the truth about her predicament will be fraught with challenges. He emphasized that while the show will delve into serious themes, it will also be infused with humor. “She doesn’t really want to be tasked with saving the world, but she more or less feels like it’s her duty,” he expressed in a recent interview.
Despite fan curiosity surrounding why Carol differs from the euphoric majority, Gilligan is keeping details under wraps for now. “I just figured there’s always gotta be a one-in-a-billion person. And it’s Carol,” he remarked, leaving viewers eager for more answers as the series unfolds.
“Pluribus” is set to premiere with two episodes on November 7 on Apple TV, with subsequent episodes airing every Friday. The unique premise and the creative team behind the series are generating excitement for what could turn out to be a compelling mix of humor and drama in this fresh narrative.
