Rewa Football Club’s assistant coach, Priyant Mannu, is gearing up for the upcoming 2025 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) with a strong belief that only the fittest teams will prevail. The Delta Tigers have already made waves this season, reaching the finals of both the Fiji Fact and Battle of the Giants tournaments. With the upcoming IDC, Mannu is optimistic yet realistic about the challenges that lie ahead in a pool with some of the top teams, including the hosts, Ba.
Speaking on the competitive field, Mannu stated, “It’s a good pool; all the top eight teams are in it, and being in the same pool against Ba will be a challenge. So, we will be preparing well before the competition starts.” He emphasized the different dynamics of the IDC, particularly noting the importance of physical fitness in a one-week tournament format.
Despite a recent string of less favorable results, Mannu conveyed a focus on the future, highlighting their recent successes in the Extra Premier League and the finals of prestigious tournaments. “The team has had a good season so far, and we will see who we face first and prepare accordingly,” he added. Confidence in his squad, which consists of players who have consistently performed throughout the season, radiates from Mannu as he prepares his team for what is expected to be an intense competition.
The draw has placed Rewa in Group B alongside formidable opponents, which include Ba, Extra Premier League champions Navua, and the Nadroga Stallions. “We have a strong squad of 22 that can make it through the tournament, and I believe the boys will do their best on the field,” Mannu remarked, urging fans to support their journey and instilling hope for a remarkable performance in the IDC.
The FMF IDC 2025 is set to commence next Tuesday at the 4R Stadium in Govind Park, Ba, creating a buzz of anticipation among fans who hope to see Rewa reclaim their status among Fiji’s elite football teams. With strong community backing and a determined squad, Rewa’s journey in the IDC becomes not just about competition but also a chance to inspire unity and pride within the local football community.
