The Rewa Football team has emerged victorious in the recent Inter-District Championship, bringing an end to a 15-year wait for this prestigious title. In recognition of their achievements, the team is set to receive a significant financial reward, which also includes bonuses for triumphs in the Extra Premier League and the National League. This announcement was made by Rewa FC president Nazeel Buksh during the team’s celebratory parade in Nausori town.
At the parade, Buksh expressed gratitude for the team’s dedication, stating, “They are getting both the National League prize money and Extra Premier League prize money, and the FMF IDC prize money. It’s all going to the players, management, and coaching staff, everyone will get a reward from it.” In addition to financial compensation, supportive local businesses have provided gift hampers for the players, acknowledging their efforts.
The celebration not only serves as a moment to honor the players’ hard work but also as a gesture of appreciation for the fans and community of Nausori, who stood by the team through the many struggles of the past years. Buksh emphasized, “We wanted to give something back to the town of Nausori, to the people of Rewa, Tailevu, and Naitasiri who call Nausori home. After so long, we were able to bring something back to these people and we thought of celebrating it in style.”
The uplifting atmosphere at the parade reflects the community’s excitement and anticipation as they celebrate the team’s great comeback. This recent achievement adds to the momentum generated by previous successes, such as their 4-1 dominance over Nadi in the Digicel Fiji Premier League, highlighting Rewa’s revival and the strong bond between the club and its supporters. As they bask in the glory of their victories, hopes are high for continued success in future competitions, showcasing the motivating power of sport to unite and inspire communities.
